Well, geez...I wasn't sure that I had to tell anyone a little, or even a lot, about myself. I mean, I feel like it's my first day in a new school and the teacher is making me introduce myself to everyone so that they can determine how much of a freak I am.
Oh well, if you insist...
First to begin, call me Ann. That may or may not be my real name, but I am a closet case and it has been many a moon since I have had any involvement with the transgender community. I live in the Twin Cities (ya know, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Co.) and I want to see if I can meet some other people vaguely similar to myself.
It has been nearly 15 years since I returned to my native land; i.e., since my operation. As the years pass, I find that I am less consumed with my gender identity and how it fits on my body. And yet, I have to admit that I am lonesome. I would like to meet some other people who have made, or are making or want to make, the odyssey which I have travelled.
I am also a lesbian. I am not nearly as closeted about that identity as I am about my status as transgender (a term about which, somehow, I don't quite feel comfortable. After all, I'm no longer in the business of changing my gender.), but having dual status as, simultaneously, lesbian and a post-operative transsexual are facts which I am discreet in disclosing. So, given those conditions, I would like to meet other women who have similar identities.
But more than having a past or present identity, I hope that I will be worth someone's time and effort to meet.
